Alright, this is probably going to be very messy-looking, but... well anyway, the introduction first. I used animal lore on a whole bunch of things, and recorded (for the most part) everything written on every page of the lore gump. Then I compared it with lore information found on stratics in the hunter's guide, and made sure it was still accurate by loring uninfected stuff. I bring to you my list of infected things I lored, and so here is my

BLACKROCK INFECTED STAT CHANGES

Hit points x 2
Dexterity, Stamina +10%
Barding Difficulty +25%
Resistances (total boost of +20%, might be all in one resist or spread out, but won't go over that creature's cap)
Damage +50%
Skills +10% (each skill will be increased by 10% of what it was before you infected it- so be careful of trained mobs)
Movement speed +100% (oh my gods I'm glad that rune beetles can't infect, demons can catch up even if running mounted)

And here is my information to back up my claim:

Okay, now about infecting. To infect a creature, there are three ways:
(1) Attack something with the Beserker's Scythe (very low chance, and I mean very low, but its possible)
(2) Carry a piece of blackrock with you in your backpack (even a bag within a bag is fine, though I don't prefer it)
(3) Infect yourself

Stipulations:
- You cannot be stealthed, hiding, or invisible when attempting to infect
- You must have line-of-sight to the target creature (not behind a wall/on top of a cliff, not standing on a tile someone else or a pet is standing on- if you didn't know this also causes you to be untargetable by monsters- if you cast a spell at it and you get the 'target cannot be seen' message, then you don't have line-of-sight and it will not infect)
- It only works in Trammel, Felucca, and T2A/lost lands (I infected a scorpion in the fel t2a champ spawn to test this)
- When you enter a screen with a monster (14 squares or its sight range, unsure) it has the chance to infect if you're infected or carrying blackrock
- If something spawns on the screen with you, as long as you remain visible and the creature walks from one tile to another, it might infect
- You cannot infect summons, tamed creatures, other characters (maybe with the scythe during pvp but not sure), or invincible targets (yellow named npc's)
- You CAN INFECT peerless and champion spawn bosses! All champion spawn bosses have level 5 maps, so if you really really wanna show off, get a "Recovered from Rikktor [Blackrock Infected]" chest
- No idea if you can infect a creature that is no longer tamed, I'm equally hoping both 'no' and 'yes'. If 'no', then pets that accidentally release themselves for some reason can be recovered, if 'yes', then I'm gonna tame a 'cu sidhe' and a 'lesser hiryu' and release them in trammel then infect it for cool chests

Carrying blackrock:
I'm not sure yet if large pieces infect more often then small ones do.

Infecting yourself:
Infecting is permanent, as far as I know. First, you must be GM mage at the least (using jewels and other temporary buff items is acceptable to achieve this) To infect yourself, put a piece of blackrock- large or small, on the ground. Stand on it. Say the following words to cast the Armageddon spell: "Vas Kal An Mani In Corp Hur Tym" without the parenthesis. One of three messages should show up:
(1) "You feel uneasy, but nothing happens" (if this happens then you didn't infect. Try again in 3 minutes)
(2) No message, the blackrock explodes. You'll probably die, so be near a healer or something. No message means you didn't infect.
(3) No message, the blackrock explodes, You'll probably die, so be near a healer or something. A message after the blackrock has exploded that says something like "you hear strange words, but they are gone before you can grasp them" means you infected yourself! Log off and log on again to have the infection take effect.

Stacking:
- i'm not sure yet if carrying multiple pieces of blackrock increases the chance to infect stuff.
- I don't use KR, so I'm not sure if infecting yourself multiple times has any effect. The blackrock will only explode, you won't get the message after you're already infected.

KR Client:
I logged in on KR for about five minutes before I hated it so much I went back to 2d, which I also hate. I miss 3d. Anyway, on KR you can actually see your infectedness as a status effect on the lower left of the screen.

Blackrock Loot:
If a monster that is capable of having a map infects, it goes by the same rules as a paragon- if it drops a map, instead of a map it will be a chest with the monster's name on it, and the level of the map inside the chest will be increased by one level. Blackrock chests (I'm sure you've seen them by now) are wooden chests that are black, and easily blend in with the corpse's background, which is very annoying and I'm sure I've not looted at least one box since I couldn't see it. The boxes are dyable by furniture dye tub.

Obtaining Blackrock:
Yeah that's all fun and good, but whats the point of knowing that, Scav, if I DON'T HAVE ANY!?! Not to worry. You get blackrock the same way you get perfect emeralds or other mining gems, just gotta find it in trammel & felucca (not sure if its in other facets)

Anything special from infected stuff?
The chests, otherwise no. Paragons have artifacts, but blackrock infected creatures don't.

Where can I find a chest? I wanna know what to look for when I'm looting!
My house is open to the public, I live in chesepeake of course, in Malas near Umbra. Take the road north of Umbra and stay on it, on the left hand side you'll eventually see an 18x18 with about twenty parrots in a fence on the roof, the small bricks used to make the whole house and its got a patio. That's mine. The treasure chest room is on the second floor, with each chest I've gotten so far on display.

Do infected creatures look different?
Yes, they look like they're made out of shadow, just like Shadow Wyrms do.

Apologies:
During the attack on Magincia (which no longer exists), it was me that infected the dark father. I formally and publicly apologize to everyone that got killed by the thing. Too bad I was on Nixie and not Scavenger, so I couldn't record its infected stats.

OMG Scav!  Thanks for the information.  Is it still possible to infect things?  If so, I will be doing so for days, as I want some cool chests.  Also, does the blackrock your carrying disappear if you infect something?

It's a random chance that a creature infects, cant just target a creature and bam. No, it doesn't use the blackrock up. Yes, this can get you killed. I always seem to infect stuff when it's least convenient. Sometimes I go for days without something infecting, then I'll infect a lot back to back. This is a reason I don't take Ryo or Hino to peerless in Tram or Fel usually.

Oh and need Magery OR Necromancy to cast Armageddon spell. Either works.

Haha, sorry about those questions I missed, thanks for answering them for me.

You know how much I love collecting chests and so I've been studying blackrock as much as I can. There's actually a question I've yet to answer on my own:

If a monster drops a paragon chest- such as a "dark wisp" or a named monster such as "Lurg", will happen? I've come up with these possibilities, none of them with any backup.
- metal paragon chest, but says 'blackrock infected' instead of 'paragon'
- wooden blackrock chest instead of paragon chest
- one of the two chests with the other chest replacing the map inside, the second chest containing a map +2
- blackrock chest and paragon chest cancel each other so nothing drops
- wooden blackrock chest that says 'paragon' on it
- paragon chest, because blackrock chests cant spawn on a 'paragon'

Of course very few creatures have paragon chests in trammel & felucca, and infected chests aren't particularly common (except to me apparently, they drop for me 45% of the time) so an infected paragon would be difficult to get anything from.

And thank you for your appreciation, but it isn't neccessary. UTB is supposed to know everything about everything and able to answer any player's questions, regardless what they ask, right? Figured I'd do my duty. Oh, and the reason I used the 'infected pig' information, is a pig's minimum and maximum stats are exactly the same, so I could tell every difference and easily calculate stuff. I still wanna get an infected shadow wyrm chest, but... I'd better take a specialized squadron to deal with the beast.

Well it is no longer possible to infect things, until they fix the Beserker's Scythe, Vorpal Blade and Staff of Pyros to actually work, since they don't right now.

Luckily, on the last day it was possible to infect, I infected something I really hoped I would. I spend a week and a half trying to infect it, killing sooo many of them and nothin. I escorted another player to the area to show them something, and it infected! While escorting a different player at a different location and time it happened again. How odd? Anyway, I happily set my Blackrock Infected White Wyrm chest on display.

Once the three cool-effect event artifacts are activated properly, I'll update everyone. Until then, only the blackrock chests that existed will exist, and nothing new will show up.
